The Benefits of Clay Masks for Your Skin
When we think of a face mask, we immediately think of the clay mask, the superstar of facial beauty care and cocooning moments. Rightly so — clay is a major ally for our skin.
If clay is so appreciated in our facial care routines, it is above all because it is a 100% natural product 🌱. Clay is in fact an earth derived from the erosion of hard rocks, and its virtues are numerous and unrivalled since time immemorial.
Clay is above all purifying, it helps absorb excess sebum as well as accumulated impurities. It is also a powerful remineraliser, as it is rich in minerals including magnesium, calcium, zinc and iron. Finally, clay is revitalising, helping the skin to regain its radiance once dead cells and impurities have been eliminated. The clay mask is therefore the essential gesture in any facial skin care routine. But be careful: to remain effective, it should not be done more than once or twice a week to avoid any drying out and irritation of the skin. Another precaution: the clay must always stay moist to be efficient; letting it dry completely dries out our pores and produces the opposite of the desired effect.
Presented as a paste or as a powder, clay comes in different colours, which correspond to a type or condition of our skin. Here again, let us remain vigilant about its use in order to apply a care suited to our skin. Purifying or hydrating? This is the primary question to ask before applying a clay mask. For example, green clay, rich in minerals, will be more nourishing than red clay, which contains iron oxide and helps the skin regain its radiance.
You can find our five clay variations adapted to each skin type within the PHYTO 5 Five Elements range, notably with the Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water clay masks. Or also our 100% organic clay mask from the Ageless La Cure range.
And after a well-deserved cocooning moment to yourself, remember to properly hydrate your skin after each mask, with the Loligo 5 Spray followed by the Crème Extrême Ageless La Cure.
