2026, the Year of the Fire Horse: inhabiting an exceptional summer

An energetic configuration we hadn't seen since 1966 and won't see again until 2086. This summer 2026 is singular — here is how to inhabit it.

A rare energetic configuration

Every sixty years, the Chinese energetic calendar comes back to a particular combination: Bing-Wu — 丙午 — a Yang Fire resting on another Yang Fire. It is the most concentrated Fire formula in the entire cycle of sixty combinations of the traditional Chinese calendar.

The last time this configuration appeared was in 1966. The next will be in 2086. In between, there is 2026.

For anyone interested in the wisdom of the 5 Elements, in the body's seasonality and in the energy of the skin, this summer will resemble no other. Yang upon Yang: this is what defines the Fire season this year.

Fire in the philosophy of the 5 Elements

In the holistic tradition that has inspired PHYTO 5 for fifty years, the Fire element corresponds to heat, to upward movement, to enthusiasm, to circulation, to Joy — the key emotion of the Fire EmotiCarte.

A balanced Fire is a radiant presence, a vivid complexion, an energy that rises without burning, a quiet joy. A Fire that is too intense — or too poorly accompanied — can manifest as redness, heightened sensitivity, restlessness, short nights, or a mind that no longer settles.

This year, the challenge is not to avoid Fire — it animates our summers and is necessary for vitality. The challenge is to inhabit it with finesse.

The energetic calendar of the 2026 Fire season

The energetic Fire season runs from 5 May to 19 July 2026. It is composed of two energetic months:

  • May — the month of the Snake (巳), Yin Fire. A moderate entry point, tempered by a Yin Water above. The ideal moment for diagnostics, observing your skin at rest before the heat truly rises, and installing preventive routines.
  • June — the month of the Horse (午), Yang Fire. The peak of the season, in an already Yang Fire year. Maximum concentration of Yang.

20 July opens the Earth inter-season, which prepares the body for the transition to the Metal season — but that is another subject, which we will address in due course.

Inhabiting summer: three gestures for 2026

1. An alternating cosmetic routine

The PHYTO 5 Fire range — Phyt'éther Fire, Fire clay mask, Cérésal Fire cream, Élément Fire cream, Fire toning lotion — accompanies this seasonal energy. The essential oils that compose these formulas, chosen for their resonance with the Fire element, support skin exposed to heat, sun and movement.

This year, rather than proposing a pure Fire routine, we recommend alternating with two treatments from the Ageless cure:

  • The Crème Nourrissante BIO Ageless La Cure for evenings when the skin is seeking comfort and substance.
  • The Crème Extrême Hydratante BIO Ageless La Cure for mornings when the skin is seeking water, or for days of strong exposure.

This alternation allows you to keep the rightness of Fire energy while compensating for the water loss typical of summer.

2. Hydration through fruits

Here is a fact too often forgotten: fruits are the food whose water content exceeds that of the human body, which itself is around 60%. Cucumber 96%, watermelon 92%, strawberry 91%, peach 89%, orange 87%.

It is not just water that fruits bring — it is structured water, accompanied by natural electrolytes (potassium, magnesium) that facilitate intracellular retention. Coconut water, chia seeds, banana, avocado: so many natural sources to integrate into daily summer life.

And to support this hydration from the outside, Oligo 5, the PHYTO 5 trace-element spray, remineralises the skin throughout the day — a simple gesture that restores the skin's capacity to retain the water given to it.

3. The nap — a forgotten gesture

Here is a cultural piece of advice often neglected in the West but essential in the Fire season: the midday nap.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the time between 11am and 1pm is the hour of the Heart — the Yin organ of Fire. It is also at this hour that the day's Yang energy reaches its peak. The Heart, called upon at the very peak, deserves a moment of rest.

This practice has a name in China: zi wu jiao (子午觉, literally "midday sleep"). Fifteen to thirty minutes is enough. In a Yang Fire year, it is one of the most precious gestures to preserve Heart energy, avoid nervous exhaustion and maintain Joy without restlessness.

Summer as a practice

A year like 2026 invites more presence, more attention, more finesse in the way we inhabit heat. Fire is not an enemy to avoid — it is the element which, accompanied with justness, allows the visible beauty of well-being to radiate.
