The Secret of Algae: A Natural Gem in Holistic Skincare
Though they might not look appealing, algae are superstars in the realm of organic and natural cosmetics. Their variety and benefits are numerous.
Discovering these treasures of the sea.
The ocean 🌊 is a vast source of trace elements and minerals that are essential and beneficial to our health, body, and skin. Among these treasures ✨ are algae! These plant-like entities 🌱, devoid of roots or leaves, are unique and number in the thousands worldwide. Highly resilient to the variable conditions of their environment (water temperature, UV exposure, etc.), algae offer an impressive array of therapeutic properties.
In their natural environment, algae produce molecules 🧑🔬 known as secondary metabolites. These metabolites are of great interest in natural cosmetics because, when formulated into alginates—a cosmetic component—they enable a multitude of skincare benefits.
Moisturizing, antioxidant, antibacterial, and cell-regenerating—algae are indeed our best allies 💪! Being 100% natural, their optimal compatibility makes them suitable and tolerable for all skin types.
There are four main families of algae. Red algae, such as Irish Moss or Chondrus Crispus, are used in cosmetics for dehydrated or dry skin. Brown algae, like Fucus Spiralis, are used in treatments for oily skin. Green algae and blue algae help create formulas that promote cell regeneration, among other benefits.
In our Swiss laboratory of natural and holistic cosmetics, algae hold an esteemed place across our product ranges. We notably use brown algae Wakame in our PHYTO 5 Marine Scrub and in our Crème Perfection, part of the 100% organic Ageless La Cure line. We also utilize the popular algae Laminaria Digitata in our PHYTO 5 Algoderme Mask and green algae in our PHYTO 5 Oligo 5 Spray.
Also referred to as algotherapy, the inclusion of algae in our skincare and cosmetic treatments is beneficial for our skin and body. Enjoy them without moderation!
